Range of Anti-Corrosion Primers for Ferrous Metal Surfaces
 


SOMAY offers a range of paints to provide resistance to corrosion of ferrous metal surfaces in industrial, commercial and marine environments, including:

EPOXY PRIMERS

    SOMAY/Carboline "Carbomastic 90" – "Aluminum" color.

    2-component, 1:1 mix, high solids epoxy, 90% volume solids.  Apply at 289 sq.ft./gal. @ 5 mils dry film thickness.  At $77.99/gal. in 10-gal. Kit ("Cash & Carry") = $0.27/sq.ft. cost.  Can be applied over firm but rusty surfaces.  NOT for immersion service.

    SOMAY/Carboline 890 – "White" (Custom Colors available at extra cost)

    2-component, 1:1 mix, high solids epoxy, 75% volume solids.  Apply @ 241 sq.ft./gal. @ 5 mils dry film thickness.  At $59.99/gal. in 10-gal. Kit ("Cash & Carry") = $0.25/sq.ft.  Requires proper surface preparation – Hand Tool for Normal Exposure.  Ideal as tank lining and for total immersion for years.

    SOMAY/Carboline "Rustbond" Universal Primer/Tie Coat

    2-component, 1:1 mix, epoxy.  Universal primer/tie coat.  Very high solids – 98% ± 2% Vol. Solids. "Green Tint" Color.  Apply @ 786 sq.ft./gal. @ 2 mils dry film thickness.  At $42.50/˝-gal. Kit ("Cash & Carry") = $0.11 sq.ft. @ 2 mils dry film thickness.  Hand tool cleaning OK.  Can be applied over firm, rusty surfaces.  NOT for immersion service.  Not a finish coat – MUST be topcoated.

ZINC RICH PRIMERS

    SOMAY/Carboline "Carbo Zinc 11" – "Gray" Color

    2–component Inorganic Zinc Rich Primer.  Protects steel galvanically.  High solids – 79% volume solids. Apply @ 333 sq.ft./gal. @ 3 mils dry film thickness.  At $85.99/1-gal. Kit = $0.26/sq.ft.  Requires abrasive blast steel surface preparation.

ALKYD-BASED U.S. FED. GOVERNMENT. SPEC. PRIMER

    SOMAY Product No. 636 Ferrous Metal Primer

    Meets U. S. Fed. Gov't Spec. TT-P-636.  Single component, alkyd-based, "Red Oxide" color.  Apply @ 365 sq.ft./gal. @ 2 mils dry film thickness (DFT).  At $134.95/5 gals. ("Cash & Carry") = $0.08/sq. ft. @ 2 mils DFT.
