APPLICATION METHOD & EQUIPMENT

Measure to Apply Proper Thickness

Measure carefully an area that is exactly 5 ft. x 10 ft. = 50 sq.ft. (1.52 m. x 3.05 m. = 4.64 sq.m.), and be sure to apply one (1) full gallon (3.79 L.) within that area; or measure exactly 10 ft. x 25 ft. = 250 sq.ft. (3.05 m. x 7.62 m. = 23.23 sq.m.), and be sure to apply five (5) gallons (18.95 L.) within that area.  Don't guess!  Measure to be sure, because proper thickness is the key to a successful waterproofing application, hurricane force wind and rain resistance, and long term durability.

Brush or Broom Application

On residential roofs, an easy, practical and effective application method is to use a broom with long, very soft plastic bristles, laying the SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC"^® onto the surface at the proper thickness to create a continuous, seamless, waterproofing membrane.

Roller Application

On small roof areas, a very smooth, very short nap (1/8") roller can be used if you work very slowly and with very light pressure on the roller, so as not to "whip" air into the coating causing "bubbles" to develop on the surface.  Remember, the objective is to apply the proper thickness of coating, NOT to spread out the coating like a normal paint.

Airless Spray Application

On larger roof surfaces, SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC" may be applied using very heavy- duty airless spray equipment.  The following airless spraying system is recom-mended by Graco for spray application:
