SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC" should be particularly helpful to those who wish to "HURRICANE PROOF THEIR ROOF"® when they reside in condos, townhouses or homes within an area where the Homeowners
Association prescribes the allowable roof colors, and absolutely NO pigmented coatings are permitted! Since "Clear" Coatings are different from pigmented/colored
coatings, here's what you should know:Appearance/Consistency - SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC"
"CLEAR" will have a white, skim milk color and a very thick, paste-like consistency in the can. It will be "white" while still wet or uncured after application to any surface. However, like magic it will turn perfectly "crystal clear" when thoroughly dry. Also, when dry, it will have a gloss finish, which will be self-cleaning and will stay clean as it is rinsed by rain falling on and running off the roof surface. Like a varnish applied to a piece of wood, SOMAY
"ROOF MASTIC" "CLEAR" will enhance the appearance of the surface to which it is applied. Surface Preparation
- Since a "clear" coating contains no pigments to hide surface imperfections, it is important that the surface be properly prepared and thoroughly clean and dry prior to the "clear" coating application.
Application - Because of its thickness, it is very easy to carry a lot of SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC"
"CLEAR" on your brush to build the proper film thickness on a surface. NEVER thin, dilute or adulterate the white paste-like material. Apply by brush ONLY – DO NOT ROLL or SPRAY. It is important to allow each applied "clear" coat to dry and cure thoroughly before applying the next coat. Each coat will become "crystal clear" when completely dry, so you can see when it is OK to apply the next coat.
Film Thickness
- It is imperative that the recommended coating thickness be applied, i.e. the theoretical maximum spreading rate should not be exceeded. Sometimes it is desirable to apply the "Clear" coating at a reduced spreading rate. The coverage and thickness from a gallon of "Clear" coating probably will be less than from a pigmented coating. Depending on the smoothness vs. roughness of the surface, the porosity vs. density of the surface, and the skill of the applicator in controlling "wastage", instead of the theoretical spreading rates, you will probably achieve only the following practical spreading rates for the three (3) coat
