COATING MAINTENANCE

A SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC"^® surface usually requires NO special or unusual maintenance.  However, should the roof surface become soiled by, for example, leaves from overhanging tree limbs, or be contaminated  by mold, mildew or fungus spores falling out of the air and starting to grow on the surface, DO NOT pressure clean with a high pressure water blast.  Rather, using a manually pumped-up two-gallon garden sprayer, apply a light mist spray of a 2% to 3% chlorine solution in water (e.g. "Clorox" diluted 1:1 with water), allowing the chlorine to kill the mildew, mold, fungus or other contamination and to bleach the surface clean.  Then just gently rinse the cleaned surface with fresh water from a garden hose.  This should have no deleterious effect on the coating system, but will allow it to last longer, providing many years of protection to your roof surface.

Should a SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC" surface ever become scarred or punctured, it is easily repaired by applying another coat of SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC" over the damaged area, after the original coating has been properly cleaned.  To apply a renewal coat of SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC", it is not necessary to remove the original coating.  Simply gently clean the original coating and apply the renewal coating over the old SOMAY "ROOF MASTIC".  You save the cost of removing the old coating and also gain the extra benefit of additional years of protection provided by the additional coating thickness.
