This premium quality, heavy-duty, industrial strength, exceptionally durable varnish will protect, preserve and help retain the natural color and beauty of wood and other substrates. SOMAY
"Premium" Acrylic Latex High Gloss Varnish
is exceptionally resistant to fresh water, salt water, boiling water, mild alkali, mild acids, alcohol, detergents and severe weather, including ultraviolet rays from the sun. Longer film life and gloss retention mean less frequent costly refinishing. It has no unpleasant solvent vapors or odor, which means it is safer to use, especially in enclosed areas, and is better for our environment.
RECOMMENDED: SOMAY "Premium" Acrylic Latex High Gloss Varnish is recommended for exterior and interior use on most non-ferrous surfaces, including wood, fiberglass, plastic,
etc. Ideal for all wood surfaces subject to hard use and deleterious environments including boat railings, paneling, doors, woodwork, furniture, exterior siding, shingles, patio furniture, fences, etc. May
be used as a high gloss finish coating over paints, including artist's oil or acrylic paints, as well as lacquers, shellacs, fillers, sealers and stains, but ONLY after they have thoroughly dried and fully
cured, and the surface area has been properly prepared. SURFACE PREPARATION: The secret of a successful varnish job is proper surface preparation. Surfaces MUST be CLEAN, COMPLETELY DRY,
and FREE of DUST, as well as free of anything which could adversely affect the adhesion of this varnish to the surface, including, dirt, sand, soot, grease, oil, tar, wax, soap film or petroleum-based
residue; lye, lime, chlorine, salt, calcimine, efflorescence, or any other chemically reactive substance; and must be completely free of all mildew, mold, fungus, or any other growing organism of any kind.
All traces of paint remover, varnish remover or liquid sandpaper must be eliminated. If dirt, grease, oil, etc. is present, completely remove by cleaning thoroughly with a biodegradable degreaser or
detergent, rinse with clean water to remove any residue, and then allow to DRY completely. The entire surface to be varnished, except for artist's paints on canvas, should be sanded thoroughly
to eliminate all gloss and to provide a slightly roughened surface for good adhesion. Just before applying the varnish, the surface should be wiped with a clean, lint-free cloth, very slightly dampened with
clean water, to remove all traces of dust. APPLICATION: Varnish must be applied full-strength as manufactured. DO NOT THIN.
A smoother finish will result if varnish is applied is a dust-free environment. Be sure surface is completely DRY before starting varnish application. Apply with a clean, good quality brush, or by spray. Roller application is NOT recommended.
Note: This varnish, in the liquid state, such as when it is being applied, will have a milky appearance, which should disappear when the varnish dries and becomes completely cured, leaving a
crystal clear finish. Best results are obtained using a minimum of two coats on interior surfaces, and three coats on exterior surfaces. For marine use and even longer durability, four or more
coats may be used. COVERAGE:
From 350 to 400 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on thickness of film applied and on the smoothness and porosity of the surface. Do not apply too thick a film. Several thin coats are always better than one thick coat. Porous surfaces will absorb more varnish and reduce rate of coverage.
WEATHER CONSIDERATION:
Before application, KEEP FROM FREEZING while in storage or transit. Apply this varnish only at temperatures above 50° F. Do not apply in damp or rainy weather. Do not apply within one hour of dusk as the evening dew could dull the finish if the varnish has not dried to the touch. If varnish is applied over a damp surface, the varnish may "blush" (look like white milk); however, this "blush" should disappear when the coating dries and completely cures.
DRYING TIME:
Dries to the touch and dust-free in approximately 1 hour, depending on weather considerations such as temperature, relative humidity, air movement, etc. Normally dries tack free in about 4 hours, and dries hard in about 8 hours, or after drying overnight. May be recoated after about 24 hours. Varnish continues curing, getting tougher and tougher over a period of several weeks.
CLEAN UP: Keep a damp cloth handy to wipe up spills immediately. Clean hands, brushes, rollers, tools and other equipment immediately after use in warm, soapy water.
CAUTION! Harmful if swallowed. Do not take internally. Close container after each use. Avoid
prolonged contact with skin and breathing of vapors. Use with adequate ventilation. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. KEEP FROM FREEZING
while in storage or transit before application. LIMITED WARRANTY / LIMITED LIABILITY:
