PRODUCT USE: This is the finest premium quality acrylic latex satin finish enamel paint available from modern chemical technology for use on exterior or interior hard surfaces of patios,
floors or playing courts. It will help seal, weatherproof, protect and preserve the surface while renewing and beautifying it at the same time. It dries quickly to an exceptionally tough, durable, low luster
enamel finish that is easy to keep clean. RECOMMENDED FOR: "Premium" Acrylic Latex Satin Finish Floor Enamel
is recommended for exterior or interior surfaces, including properly cured, new or old concrete, such as patios, breezeways, sun porches and basements. It may also be used on other hard surfaces, including all-weather and asphalt-based playing courts, and on concrete blocks, stucco, stone, bricks, unglazed tile, cement tile, slate, primed wood, primed metal, etc.
"Premium" Acrylic Latex Satin Finish Floor Enamel contains a special kind and particle size of anti-skid ingredient in its formula, which is designed to balance the need for a
degree of anti-skid in the floor coating, to reduce possible slipperiness, without making the coated surface so rough that it becomes excessively dirty under normal exposure and use conditions.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
The secret of a successful painting job is proper surface preparation. Surfaces MUST be free of anything which could adversely affect the adhesion of this coating to the surface, including loose, scaling, peeling, blistering, chipping, cracking, flaking, chalking or powdering paint; dust, dirt, sand, soot, grease, oil, tar, wax, soap film or petroleum-based residue; lye, lime, chlorine, salt, calcimine, efflorescence, or any other chemically reactive substance; and must be completely free of all mold, fungus, mildew or any other growing organism of any kind.
Scrape off all loose, peeling, blistering, chipping, cracking or flaking paint. Wire brushing, pressure cleaning, power sanding or sandblasting may be used to remove powdering and chalking
paint. To remove dirt, grease, etc., wash with water and detergent and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. To remove mildew, fungus, etc., scrub with a solution made with 16 fluid ounces (473 mL) of
liquid household bleach and 2 fluid ounces (59 mL) of detergent in one gallon (3.785 L) of water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Patch all cracks, and when dry, sand smooth and seal. You should have a
completely clean and firm surface before any new coating is applied. SMOOTHLY TROWELED CONCRETE SURFACES:
Should be acid-etched before painting, using a 10% muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) solution. Be sure to observe acid label directions and precautions. After etching the surface, flush thoroughly with clean water. Properly etched surfaces will have the texture of rough sandpaper. See separate page on preparing the surface. NEW CONCRETE SURFACES:
Can be painted as soon as the concrete has thoroughly cured, normally about 30 days, and the surface has been acid-etched as instructed above. UNCOATED CONCRETE AND ASPHALT-BASED SURFACES:
Should be slightly dampened with clean water before applying the first coat, to improve the bond of the paint film to the substrate. PREVIOUSLY COATED CONCRETE AND ASPHALT-BASED SURFACES:
Do not need to be dampened before applying the first coat. Be sure all glossy surfaces have been dulled or sanded, and surfaces have been properly prepared as instructed above.
UNPAINTED WOOD SURFACES:
Sand and seal knots. Countersink nails, putty holes, and seal. When the surface is properly prepared and completely clean and dry, apply one coat of SOMAY Wood Primer. Allow to dry before applying finish coat of
"Premium" Acrylic Latex Satin Finish Floor Enamel. PREVIOUSLY PAINTED WOOD SURFACES:
Scrape off all loose paint. Wire brushing or power sanding may be necessary to remove loose, powdery or heavily chalked paint. Prime all bare wood with SOMAY Wood Primer. Sand all glossy surfaces. Apply finish coat of
"Premium" Acrylic Latex Satin Finish Floor Enamel. UNPAINTED METAL SURFACES:
Be sure metal is clean and free of rust and oxidation. When the surface is properly prepared, and completely clean and dry, apply a primer coat of SOMAY Metal Primer. Allow to dry before applying finish coat of
"Premium" Acrylic Latex Satin Finish Floor Enamel. APPLICATION: Apply only at temperatures above 50° F. (10° C). Stir thoroughly before using and occasionally while using. Apply
paint as it comes from the can. DO NOT THIN or ADULTERATE with any additives. Apply generously, using brush or roller. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling. If two coats are desired for even longer lasting
durability, allow first coat to dry approximately 2 hours, under normal drying conditions before applying another coat. TO MAKE A COARSER NON-SKID SURFACE:
It is the user's responsibility to determine if his application requires additional or coarser, larger particle size, non-skid additive, and to be sure to use more if necessary. To provide a coarser non-skid surface, add one (1) pound of
SOMAY "Anti-Skid" Floor Coating Additive, directly to each one (1) gallon of the finish coating. Stir the mixture thoroughly prior to application and keep the mixture well agitated during
application, so that the "Anti-Skid" additive stays in suspension and does not settle on the bottom of the container. COVERAGE:
To apply a 2 mil dry film thickness, apply at a rate of no more than 250 square feet per gallon on a smooth surface. On a porous, rough or textured, surface, a gallon should cover from 150 to 200 square feet.
DRYING TIME:
Dries to the touch in about 30 minutes, under normal drying conditions, depending on temperature, humidity, and air movement. Dries hard enough overnight, or in about 8 hours, under normal drying conditions, to withstand light foot traffic. Acrylic coatings continue curing for some time, getting harder and more durable the longer they are allowed to cure.
CLEAN UP: Keep a damp cloth handy to wipe up spills immediately. Clean hands, brushes, rollers, tools and other equipment immediately after use in warm, soapy water.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR:
Surfaces on which hot tires of heavy vehicles may be parked, since the combination of heat and pressure could cause loss of adhesion and film pick-up. If used on garage or carport floors, it is suggested that the tire lanes be protected with mats or runners, or be painted with a rubber-base paint that can withstand the temperature and pressure from the hot vehicle tires.
CAUTION! Harmful if swallowed. Do not take internally. Close container after each use. Avoid
prolonged contact with skin and breathing of vapors. Use with adequate ventilation. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. KEEP FROM FREEZING
while in storage or transit before application. LIMITED WARRANTY / LIMITED LIABILITY:
