SOMAY "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint

Product No. 345

PRODUCT USE: "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint, Product No. 345, has been especially formulated for exterior use in tropical climates, and contains the maximum amount of fungicide and mildewcide permitted by law to provide resistance to mildew growth on the painted surface. "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint provides superior protection for the roof surface and the flat finish hides surface imperfections.

RECOMMENDED: "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint is recommended for exterior use on all firm roof surfaces that are properly prepared, such as concrete tiles, clay barrel tiles, poured concrete slabs, wooden shingles, corrugated galvanized steel, mobile home roofs, etc.

SURFACE PREPARATION: The secret of a successful painting job is proper surface preparation. Surfaces MUST be free of anything which could adversely affect the adhesion of this coating to the surface, including loose, scaling, peeling, blistering, chipping, cracking, flaking, chalking or powdering paint; dust, dirt, sand, soot, grease, oil, tar, wax, soap film or petroleum-based residue; lye, lime, chlorine, salt, calcimine, efflorescence, or any other chemically reactive substance; and must be completely free of all mold, fungus, mildew or any other growing organism of any kind. Infirm surfaces MUST be made firm.

Scrape off all loose, peeling, blistering, chipping, cracking or flaking paint. Wire brushing, pressure cleaning, power sanding or sandblasting may be used to remove powdering and chalking paint. To remove dirt, grease, etc., wash with water and detergent and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. To remove mildew, fungus, etc., scrub with a solution made with 16 fluid ounces (473 mL) of liquid household bleach and 2 fluid ounces (59 mL) of detergent in one gallon (3.785 L) of water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Patch all cracks, and when dry, sand smooth and seal. You should have a completely clean and firm surface before any new coating is applied.

UNPAINTED WOOD SURFACES or FERROUS METAL SURFACES: Should be primed with wood or metal primer and allowed to dry before applying "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint.

UNPAINTED CONCRETE OR CLAY TILE: "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint may be used for the prime coat as well as the finish coat.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: Scrape off all loose paint. Wire brush to remove all powdering or chalking paint. If powdering or chalking come off on the hand when rubbed over the surface, then a coat of SOMAY Surface Conditioner should be applied, according to directions, before applying "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint.

APPLICATION: Apply only at temperatures above 50° F. (10° C). Stir thoroughly before using and occasionally while using. May be applied to dry or slightly damp surfaces, using brush, roller or spray. Apply generously, working the paint into pores and cracks. Try to apply the paint as smoothly as possible. For a more durable, longer lasting job, a minimum of two coats is recommended. Two thin coats are always preferable to one thick coat.

THINNING: "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint is ready to use and should be applied full strength as it is received in the can. Any thinning of the paint will reduce the percentage of solids, which will adversely affect the durability of the applied coating. Therefore, if thinning, use clean water very sparingly, never using more than one-half pint per gallon of paint.

COVERAGE: On a rough porous surface, such as concrete tile, one gallon will usually cover from 100 to 300 sq.ft. On porous surfaces, the coverage on the second coat normally will be greater than the first coat. Therefore a normal application may require 6.67 gallons per 1,000 sq.ft. for the first coat, and 3.33 gallons per 1,000 sq.ft. for the second coat, or a total of 10 gallons per 1,000 sq.ft. On smooth, non-porous surfaces, such as sheet metal, the coverage rate will be 475 sq.ft. per gallon @ 1 mil dry film thickness; 237 sq.ft. per gallon @ 2 mils DFT, etc. A minimum of 2 coats, each 2 mils DFT is recommended.

DRYING TIME: Drying time will vary depending on surface and air temperature, humidity, wind or air movement, exposure to sunlight, etc. Under ideal drying conditions, "Premium" "Stay-White" Acrylic Latex Flat Roof Paint forms a dew and drizzle resistant film in approx. 30 to 60 minutes after application, and dries sufficiently in approx. three or four hours to permit the application of a second coat. A longer drying time will be required if the surface being coated is not completely dry, is colder than 50 ° F., if too thick a coat is applied, if the relative humidity is higher than 90%, if the air is calm, or the surface is not exposed to direct sunlight.

CLEAN UP: Any drips, splatters, overspray or spills on shrubbery, walkways, drive-ways, or sides of mobile homes must be cleaned up immediately before paint dries. NOTE: If paint is spilled or splashed onto the sides of a mobile home, or if rain or heavy dew washes the paint onto the sides, be sure to remove it at once, using water from a hose, warm soapy water, or alcohol solvent. Paint not removed before it dries will be almost impossible to remove. Clean hands, brushes, rollers, tools and other equipment immediately after use in warm, soapy water.

WEATHER CONSIDERATION: Before application, KEEP FROM FREEZING. Apply only at temperatures above 50° F. Apply only when weather will be fair for a sufficiently long time for the paint to dry. Do not apply late in the afternoon or early evening when a heavy dew could develop on the coating surface before it dries thoroughly. A very heavy rainstorm, such as those common in tropical climates, could wash the paint off during the first few hours after application, if it has not dried thoroughly.

CAUTION! Harmful if swallowed. Do not take internally. Close container after each use. Avoid prolonged contact with skin and breathing of vapors. Use with adequate ventilation.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

KEEP FROM FREEZING while in storage or transit before application.
