: The secret of a successful painting job is proper surface preparation. Surfaces MUST be free of anything which could adversely affect the adhesion of this coating to the surface, including loose,
scaling, peeling, blistering, chipping, cracking, flaking, chalking or powdering paint; dust, dirt, sand, soot, grease, oil, tar, wax, soap film or petroleum-based residue; lye, lime, salt, chlorine,
calcimine, efflorescence, or any other chemically reactive substance; and must be completely free of all mold, fungus, mildew or any other growing organism of any kind. Infirm surfaces MUST be made firm.
If dirt, grease, oil, etc are present, completely remove by cleaning thoroughly with mineral spirits. All traces of paint remover, varnish remover or liquid sandpaper must be eliminated. Patch all cracks,
and when dry, sand smooth and seal. You should have a completely clean and firm surface before any new coating is applied. PREVIOUSLY FINISHED SURFACES: Follow surface preparation
instructions above. Surface should be sanded thoroughly to remove all gloss and provide a slightly roughened surface for good adhesion. Just before applying, surface should be wiped with a clean, lint-free
cloth, dampened with mineral spirits, to remove all traces of dust. Do NOT use over lacquers, shellacs, fillers, sealers or stains unless they are specifically recommended for use with
polyurethane based varnish. SURFACES NOT PREVIOUSLY FINISHED: Follow surface preparation instructions above. Sand with fine sandpaper to provide a slightly roughened surface for good
adhesion. Just before applying, surface should be wiped with a clean, lint-free cloth, dampened with mineral spirits, to remove all traces of dust. APPLICATION: Best results are obtained
using a minimum of two coats on interior surfaces, and three coats on exterior surfaces. For marine use and for even longer durability, four coats may be used. First Coat: May be reduced with
one-half to one pint of mineral spirits per gallon. Allow to dry thoroughly before applying second coat, but normally not longer than 48 hours. Sanding between coats is not required if the second coat is put
on before the first coat is completely cured. Second Coat: Apply as it comes from the can. Do NOT reduce. Sand lightly with fine sandpaper or fine steel wool between each coat for better
adhesion. Third & Fourth Coat (If necessary): Apply as it comes from the can. Do NOT reduce. Sand lightly with fine sandpaper or fine steel wool between each coat for better adhesion. Apply with a clean, good-quality brush, or spray. WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS: Apply varnish only at temperatures above 50° F. Do not apply in damp or rainy weather.
Do not apply within one hour of dusk, as the evening dew could dull the finish if the varnish has not dried to the touch. THINNING: This paint is ready to use as it is received in the
can. If varnish seems too thick or heavy, thin sparingly with mineral spirits. COVERAGE: Apply at a rate not exceeding 500 - 700 square feet per gallon depending on thickness of film
applied and on the smoothness and porosity of the surface. Several thin coats are better than one thick coat. Porous surfaces will absorb more paint and reduce rate of coverage. DRYING TIME
: Dries to the touch and dust free in approximately 2 hours, depending on weather conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind, etc. Normally dries tack free in about 6 hours, and dries hard in about 8
hours, or after drying overnight. Normally may be recoated after drying overnight. Complete curing of the film occurs in 3 or 4 days. CLEAN UP
: Clean brushes with mineral spirits or turpentine.
DANGER! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED. COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID AND VAPOR.
VAPOR HARMFUL. MAY AFFECT THE BRAIN OR NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING DIZZINESS, HEADACHE OR NAUSEA. CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. CAUSES SKIN IRRITATION. CAUSES NOSE AND THROAT IRRITATION NOTICE:
Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and
inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. Keep away from heat and flame. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation
. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Do not breathe vapors. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or
dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator (NIOSH/MSHA approved) during and after application. Follow
respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Close container after each use. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. FIRST AID:If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued
