All of these roof waterproofing systems are Solvent-Borne. All require an absolutely DRY surface for
application, except for SOMAY/Andek "Rubberkote 1047", which can be applied to a damp or wet surface & cures underwater.
Proper surface preparation, including the use of an appropriate primer, is essential for the adhesion of any coating to any surface. A surface formerly coated with an asphalt sealer containing
leafing aluminum pigment generally will NOT provide a firm surface on which to apply another coating, because most coatings will not bond to the aluminum pigmented asphalt. In these
situations, a special prime coat such as SOMAY/Andek "Polaroof R.A.C." will be necessary.Epoxy Coatings may lose gloss and chalk after exposure to UltraViolet sunlight for several months.
Although this affects appearance, generally it does NOT affect their resistance to chemicals, water penetration, or abrasion. Coverage rates are theoretical for "smooth,
non-porous surfaces" (such as glass) and assume 100% transfer efficiency. Rough and/or porous surfaces will reduce spreading rates and require the use of more material. Wastage rate
will vary from 10% to 30%, depending on application method used and the care and skill of the applicator. NOTE: All pot life/cure times are based on a temperature of 75° F.
(24° C.) and relative humidity of 50%. Pot life and cure times will be shorter at higher temperatures and/or lower humidity; and longer at lower temperatures and/or higher humidity.
NOTE: It is essential that the applicator read and carefully observe all safety, surface preparation, product mixing, induction time, pot life, and temperature and humidity parameters, as
well as all application instructions on the Product Data Sheet and Material Safety Data Sheets when using these products. SOMAY offers detailed surface preparation instructions on request.
* Ideal for use on roofs from which water is collected in cisterns for drinking purposes – has ANSI NSF Std. 61 approval for potable water tank linings. ** On
asphalt surfaces, the solvents in some coatings can cause asphalt bleed through and stain the "White" finish. A prime coat such as SOMAY/Andek "Polaroof R.A.C." can be used to prevent
bleed through, and when dry, can be top coated with a "White" finish coat using, for example, a coat froom either System C, SOMAY Rubber Waterproofing Coating, or System D, SOMAY/Andek
"Polaroof NW".
